Al Thornton- NBA Rookie of the Year?

Since the All-Star Break Al Thornton is averaging 17.1 points per game and 5.7 rebounds per game. Compared to his competition Al Horford and Kevin Durant he is averaging less turnovers per game on the season.




Kevin Durant is a scoring machine averaging 20.1 points per game. On the season he is averaging almost 9 minutes per game more than Thornton. Thornton is averaging almost 2 more rebounds per game than Durant. Thornton is also shooting a higher percentage from the field 43% compared to Durant's 41.1%.





Al Horford has been a solid rookie all this year. On the season he is averaging almost 6 more minutes than Thornton. Since the All-Star Break Thornton is averaging almost 6 more points per game than Horford's 11 ppg. Horford has also started every game for the Hawks compared to Thornton's 18 starts for the Clippers. Thornton's season high of 33 points is 11 higher than Horford's season high.





Thornton should not only be in the discussion he should be a legitimate contender for NBA Rookie of the Year Award.
