Addison makes a visit to Florida State

Corey Addison was in town this past weekend to check out Florida State. The safety prospect from Jacksonville had a good time and came away impressed with what he saw from the Seminoles. NoleDigest caught up with him to get his thoughts and the visit and to get the latest on how his recruitment is going.

Corey Addison is one of the safety targets that have popped up on Florida State's radar early in the 2009 recruiting season. The versatile prospect has received several offers from schools across the nation, and the Seminoles are in the process of evaluating him to determine if they should offer. Addison was in Tallahassee this past weekend to check out the school and see what the football program has to offer.

"I wanted to come to Tallahassee to see what was going on. I came Friday and left Sunday afternoon. It was a good visit. I've been to FSU for camps, but this visit was better because I got to see the team, some meetings and the practices. While the Seminoles haven't offered yet, I am really considering them."

Corey spent the weekend touring campus and sitting in on meetings with the defensive backs. He got the chance to see the first scrimmage for spring, and saw some things he liked. He talked about that some.

"I was impressed with the campus and the team as a whole. The practices were neat to watch and I liked seeing how intense Coach Mickey Andrews runs practice. He expects a lot out of his guys and works them hard. I got to sit in the meetings, too. They were just going over the previous day's practice talking about how the guys where doing and talking schemes and stuff. My coach at Andrew Jackson worked with Coach Andrews so we run the same basic stuff, so it was nice that I knew what the coaches were saying. With the practices and all that I though the defense did okay, but Coach Andrews didn't think so (laughs). I was watching the whole defense and you could see that there's talent but also they are young."

Addison didn't make the trip alone, as his parents came with him to check out the school. Corey says they came away impressed and loved what they saw. He says overall the visit helped the Seminoles in the scheme of things.

"I came just to check things out, so my parents came with me. They loved it and also had a chance to talk to Coach Andrews and Coach Haggins. Coach Andrews was telling us that they need defensive backs and what they'd like to do with me if I were to come there. He feels like I can help out the team. Even though they didn't offer me this weekend I think it's coming soon based off the way they were talking. The visit moved the Seminoles up my list. They like me and want to evaluate me more in the spring. Coach Andrews said I should be hearing something then."

With the unofficial visit to FSU over with, Addison is planning on checking out some more schools. Next up is a visit to Florida on April 12th.

"I want to visit FSU again, and will probably wait until I make an official. I am going to Florida on the 12th. They just came into the picture for me, but it was always one of my dreams to play there. If Florida offers it'll put them in the front, but I also have to check to see if they fit what I am looking for in a school with playing time and all that."
