Long enjoys weekend trips

Austin Long has been making unofficials recently, checking out the schools that he is interested in, and others that have offered him. This past week he made visits to Auburn, Florida State and Florida. NoleDigest caught up with Scout.com's #7 ranked offensive tackle to get his thoughts on his visits, and to see where FSU stands at this time.

Austin Long is a 4-star tackle prospect from Briarcrest Christian Schools in Memphis, TN. Lately the talented prospect has been making unofficial visits to schools he is interested in because he is hoping to cut his list down within the next few weeks. Earlier this week he checked out Auburn, FSU and Florida. He talks about those visits.

Auburn: "It was a good visit. We rode around on a golf cart around the campus and checked out the school and the stadium. We spent 30 minutes or so with Coach Nall. That was cool. We went into the stadium and walked around on the field a little bit. I got to see all the coaches and spent some time with Coach Tuberville."

Florida State: "I went to Florida State on Thursday. Coach Trickett took us around on a golf cart for like hour showing us the campus and the stadium. It was very nice. He took us the weightroom and the training room. FSU's facilities were very good. I got to meet Coach Bowden and Coach Fisher. They were just talking to me asking me how recruiting was going, when I was making a decision, how my visit is going; you know stuff like that. I really like Coach Trickett. He is a great coach and he is very funny. My parents like him. They changed practices because of weather, so I didn't get a chance to watch that, but it was a good visit and FSU got my attention."

Florida: "I got to Florida yesterday (Friday). I got to meet everyone. We drove around on a golf cart seeing the campus and stuff like the other two visits. I went to class with a player to see what that was like. I went and watched practice, and then met with Coach Meyer in his office. He showed me the National Title trophy, the highlights from that season, and Tim Tebow's Heisman. That night I ate with Coach Meyer, Coach Addazio and Tim Tebow. That was pretty crazy."

Austin says that overall he had a great time with the 3 visits, and he says that he learned a lot about each one. When asked if one stood out over the other, he said they were all pretty good and even.

"Neither one stood out more than the other. I liked all 3 and they were very awesome. It's nice to wined and dined a little bit. All of the visits were great. On the way home I am going to talk with my family about the visits and we are going to make some decisions. I want to narrow it down to 7-8 schools. I think Florida State will be a school that's on that list. I am going to visit Alabama for their spring game next week, and that'll be my last visit until the summer. Before then I hope to have a smaller list in mind."

Austin says that he is up to 12 official offers now, with Michigan, Auburn and Arkansas being the latest to offer. Stay tuned to NoleDigest for further updates with Austin and the rest of the 2009 recruiting class.
