Willie Haulstead came out of the initial Scout.com rankings without being evaluated, but due to his performances over the past month, may be one of the highest risers come the next set of rankings. Right now Haulstead has 7 offers, and he is hearing from some of the top programs in the nation.
"Purdue just offered me (Monday). That puts me at 7 with USF, Florida State, FIU, FAU, UCF and South Carolina. Schools like Auburn, Miami, Florida, LSU and Georgia have been contacting me a lot through mail. I talk to them every now and then, and they've been telling me I should have an offer soon and that they want me to visit."
Last month NoleDigest spoke to Willie about his recruitment, and he mentioned that Florida State was among the list of schools he was considering, but they were trailing a few schools at that time. As of right now, they are still among the list, but trail his leader.
"Miami is still my top school. They're rebuilding but they'll be good again. With Florida State, they are still up on my list. I like that they are always competitive and that they like to use their receivers. I spoke to Coach Fisher and he was telling me they like how physical I am and that is what they're looking for. We were talking about me coming up for a visit."
At this time Willie says that he plans on making numerous visits to schools that are on his list. At this time he says Miami, Georgia, LSU, Florida, Florida State and South Carolina are the top schools at this time.
"I'm going to visit the schools at the top of my list this summer. One program I'd like to hear more from is Cal. For some reason, I really like them.
Georgia: "They have a winning team, and they are going to continue to do their thing and get better."
LSU: "They just won the title. They may be down this year, but they are going to be right back."
Florida: "The spread the ball and pass a lot and use their receivers in different ways."
South Carolina: "Pretty much like Florida, they pass a lot."
It seems like Haulstead is just beginning his recruiting process. He says that his list of schools could change depending on what other schools offer him a scholarship. At this time is seems like Willie is a long ways away from making any kind of decision. Stay tuned to NoleDigest for further updates with Willie and the rest of the 2009 recruiting class.
