Soft UM verbal plans to visit FSU this summer

Florida State is trying to revamp and reload the defensive line for next year. The Seminoles are now targeting one of the best players in the state in 4 star DE prospect Olivier Vernon. NoleDigest had the opportunity to speak with the Dade County prospect.

Do you have a particular list of schools that you are interested in?

OV- I'm interested in a lot of schools including FSU.

Has FSU visited your school during the evaluation visit?

OV- Yes they have. There were about four coaches. Coach Amato, the tight ends coach (Coley), and the defensive coordinator (Andrews).

Do you have any interest in Florida State?

OV- Yes sir, I do. I'd like to take a visit this summer and I'm going to try to come down during the Seminole Showtime.

Would you say that you are open in the recruiting process?

OV- Yes sir.

Why do you consider yourself a soft commitment to UM?

OV- Well, I committed so early. I thought that I would give other schools a chance.

Do you have any summer plans?

OV- Right now I plan on training, going to night school, and summer camps. One of the camps will be FSU.

Describe yourself as a player?

OV- I am hard working, committed to anything, and a leader.

What factors will play a role in your decision?

OV- Definitely playing time, location, the coaches, and education. Right now, I would like to major in criminal justice but that can change.

Do your parents have a preference on you staying close to home?

OV- No sir. They are very supportive and will be happy with whatever decision that I make.

How are you handling all of the attention from the college coaches?

OV- I am trying to stay the same as last year. I don't let all of the attention really get to my head.

How's spring ball going?

OV- It's going well.

Bonus on Vernon- His name is pronounced O-live-E-A. Last season Vernon made 52 tackles, 32 solos, 12.5 sacks and 21 tackles for loss. He plans on graduating this December that is why he will be attending night school this summer. He participated with the track and field team by throwing shot put and discus. He ran a 4.53 at the Miami Scout.com Combine last month. He's qualified right now with a 3.0 GPA but he plans on taking the SAT sometime soon.
