Jonotthan Harrison came into his recruitment a big fan of the Florida Gators, and he says they still lead. But, Harrison is taking an open mind to the recruiting process and making sure he checks out every option given to him. He's at 20 offers now, and says that he's taking visits. Recently he made trips to UCF and USF, saying they went very well.
"There are no new offers for me right now so I am at 20 still. I've started taking unofficial visits recently as I went to UCF and USF. I can't say which visit was better but they both jumped way up on my list. I didn't expect much going into the visits but they were really good visits."
"I was able to tour the campuses, met the academic staff and meet the coaches while I was there. My mom was there and she was pleased with what she saw on the academic side from them. Both were productive visits for me."
Florida State is a program that entered the picture recently with Harrison. After a few phone calls from Florida State offensive line coach Rick Trickett, the Noles became a team that Harrison was interested in. Jonotthan says that, while he hasn't spoken to Coach Trickett recently, he plans on making a visit later this month.
"I haven't spoken to Coach Trickett recently, but I am taking a visit there June 20th or 21st. I want to be able to view the campus and sit down with my parents to talk about the academics there. It doesn't hurt them that I haven't spoken to Trickett lately because I have talked to him a few times. I like them. I just want to get a chance to meet more of the coaches because getting along with the whole staff is important to me. I think this visit will help me do that."
Jonotthan told NoleDigest that he has 3 other visits that he is thinking about taking. He says he wants to get them out of the way because he wants to make a decision by the end of July due to the fact he plans on graduating early.
"I'm planning on making unofficials to Florida, South Carolina and Duke. The visit to Florida is coming up soon. I've met the coaches at South Carolina and Duke and I like them. I've heard good things about their academics and I have been told their campuses are ones that I need to check out."
"I'm graduating in December so I want to get these visits done. I've been told how helpful it is to graduate early because it helps you make the transition, as a well as I'll be able to participate in spring football. I'm eligible for it so it's pretty much a done deal I will be graduating in December."
Harrison hasn't decided yet if he's taking any camp visits this summer as it depends on how his schedule unfolds. The visit to FSU is important because if the coaches are going to have any shot with Jonotthan they have to make a good impression before he makes his visit to Florida later this summer. Stay tuned to NoleDigest for further updates with Jonotthan and the rest of the 2009 recruiting class.
