Offense- A-. Coach Jimbo Fisher called an excellent game keeping Miami off balance and controlling the ball. The offense had 440 total yards. Antone Smith scored 4 TD's and moved up the career rushing list in FSU history. Christian Ponder made some nice plays. He ran for 144 yards. The offensive line really played a great game. They have steadily improved since the start of the season up to this point. The WR's (Carr, Reed, Parker, Easterling, and Surrency) all got involved for positive plays. Jermaine Thomas made two impressive runs. Seddrick Holloway made a nice lead block for a score. The negatives were the turnover inside the 20 that led to a score and the interception that led to a Miami defensive TD. Even with the turnovers though this young offense responded well.
Defense- A. The defense played another very good football game. FSU held Miami to a total of 256 yards (51 rushing, 205 passing yards). FSU's "D" had 3 turnovers. The defensive ends were applying pressure despite being held for most of the night. Derek Nicholson had several nice tackles. Dekoda Watson made an acrobatic interception. Tony Carter made two nice interceptions. Korey Mangum filled in for Pat Robinson nicely. Myron Rolle was all over the field and played very well. Besides the half-back pass that led to a TD, the defense as a whole played a very solid game and tackled well.
Special Teams- D- or F. Besides Graham Gano's two nice field goals and Louis Givens' tackles on special teams this group did not play well. The punt team was atrocious. The kick-off team could not tackle Travis Benjamin giving Miami excellent field position. UM's offense could not move the ball on a consistent basis on FSU's defense but the Noles' continued to kick the ball short.
