Offense- A. Florida State's offense played their best game of the season against an FBS opponent. The Seminoles scored more points than any other team has scored against Clemson all season. The Noles' gained 419 yards. QB Christian Ponder threw for a TD and ran for a TD with the help of Marcus Sims. Freshman RB Jermaine Thomas played another excellent game with 94 yards rushing. Senior RB Antone Smith rushed for 2 TD's last night moving him up on FSU's All-Time leading rushing TD's in one season. WR Corey Surrency made two big plays including a 14 yard reception for a TD. The offensive line had a very good game collectively only giving up two sacks but allowing FSU to rush for 266 yards on the ground.
Defense- B+. This grade would have been higher if not for the long scoring drive in the 4th quarter. Florida State's defense had 6 sacks last night. The Seminoles had two forced fumbles. Defensive end Neefy Moffett might have had his best game of his career with an interception returned for a TD as well as a sack. Defensive end Everette Brown played a great game with 3 sacks alone. Florida State's defense held two future NFL runningbacks to 79 total yards combined. Florida State's defense was hurt by two bad plays on special teams.
Special Teams- B-. Graham Gano made two field goals including a 52 yarder. The kick-off team played their best game of the season allowing no big returns. Florida State fumbled a punt allowing Clemson easy points. FSU also roughed the kicker which allowed Clemson to maintain the ball.
