Catching up with Smith

Branden Smith sits atop Florida State's cornerback recruiting board for the 2009 class. Recently he stated that he wasn't sure if he was going to make his visit to FSU this weekend when they play their archrival Florida Gators. NoleDigest caught up with Smith to get the latest on if he intends on making the visit.

Branden Smith has been very composed when it comes to his recruitment as he is possibly one of the more legitimately open recruits in the 2009 recruiting class. Last week Branden told NoleDigest in an update that he wasn't sure if he was making his planned visit to Florida State this weekend as they battle the Florida Gators. On Monday Branden confirmed that he will be in town this weekend.

"Yeah, I'm coming to the game this weekend," said Smith. "I'm going to still make my visit to FSU."

One of the primary reasons why Smith was having doubts on making his visit was due to the lack of communication between himself and the coaches at FSU. The speedy cornerback is a high priority for the Noles, but he was wondering where he stood with them due to the lack of communication. A conversation with Odell Haggins Monday fixed that.

"I spoke to Coach Odell (Haggins) today (Monday)," explained Smith. "We talked about my upcoming visit and how they are ready for me to come down. One thing we talked about was how badly they need cornerbacks. I'm ready for the visit and I'm looking forward to it."

Stay tuned to NoleDigest for much more on Branden's official visit this weekend, as well as the rest of the visitors who are expected to be in town for the annual rivalry game.
