McDaniel ready to soak in environment

It's a common theme to see commitments make their official visits to the school of their choice for the "big game". That commonality stands pat as Jacobbi McDaniel plans on making his official visit to Florida State this weekend. NoleDigest caught up with McDaniel to get his thoughts on the visit and how he thinks the game may unfold

By now almost everyone who follows recruiting knows who Jacobbi McDaniel is. The 5-star defensive tackle and Florida State commitment is having a strong season for his Madison team. This weekend they travel to Pensacola Catholic as they continue to defend their state championship. Jacobbi told NoleDigest that this weekend will be busy as he also plans on making his official visit.

"We have Pensacola Catholic this weekend," said McDaniel. "We have to travel there because the team we beat lost to them earlier this year. If we win we'll probably be home until the title game. Coming off of last week's game we had a great practice Monday. We were intense and everyone was up. If we play like we can I don't think any team in Florida can beat us."

"I think this is going to be a great weekend with this game and my official to Florida State," continued McDaniel. "I am very excited for this visit. It's a big game against our arch rival."

Even though Jacobbi has been to Florida State on numerous occasions he hopes to get more of a chance to hang out with the players and Coach Haggins. One aspect of the visit he is excited about is getting a chance to watch film with his future position coach.

"For all the times I have been to FSU," said McDaniel, "I haven't been able to see everything. I want to spend more time with the players and build connections with them. I want to get a view of the campus and the coaches during a big game weekend. I am also really looking forward to spending time with Coach Haggins. I can't wait to sit down with him and go over film."

"I always talk to Coach Haggins and I try to call him on his free time," continued McDaniel on his relationship with his future position coach. "The coaches tell me I need to be ready to go when I get there. I'm looking forward to lifting weights and getting to go through spring so I can be a guy who contributes to my team next year."

It's widely known throughout the Seminole fan base that McDaniel is going to be an early enrollee. He says that whole process is complete, so know he and his family can just enjoy the environment and have a relaxing weekend.

"The early enrollee stuff is already done so my mom and I can just enjoy it this weekend," explained McDaniel. "We're both very excited. My mom has never been to a game so this will be her first time to see the school and everything. For her she'll get a chance to see where I will be living for 4 years."

Jacobbi has long been a huge FSU fan so this game is one that he looks forward to every season. He told NoleDigest that this game means a lot to him as a fan and a future Nole.

"This game means a lot to me," stated McDaniel. "We're 8-3 right now so getting to 9-3 and knocking Florida would be great. I'm coming out to that game all decked out….I may paint my whole body Garnet and Gold. I'm very excited. To see FSU go up to Maryland, in the cold, and do what they did in that kind of weather, was amazing. That game set them up well for this game. As long as they have a good week of practice and take the plays one at a time, I think we can do it. I really want to play in this game badly."

"Here at Madison it's like 50/50 FSU fans and Florida fans," continued McDaniel. "A lot of Gator fans have talked a lot of smack saying how FSU has no shot, and how we can't stop their offense. I told some of them to line up; they can be Florida and I will be Florida State. We could have seen who'd win between us (laughs)."
