TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Toney Douglas scored 24 points and Uche Echefu added 18 points and 10 rebounds to lead Florida State to an 80-67 victory over Miami on Wednesday night.
The Seminoles (20-6, 7-4 Atlantic Coast Conference) made 31 of 35 free throws and put the clamps on Miami scoring machine Jack McClinton for most of the game, limiting him to 13 points. McClinton, who had scored 101 points in the last three games, had just five at halftime and went nearly 25 1/2 minutes without scoring through the middle of the game.
James Dews led Miami (15-10, 4-8) with a season-high 19 points.
Douglas, who spent much of his time in the first half helping defend McClinton, scored 17 of his points in the second half.
