Mitchell Ready for FSU Visit

Terrence Mitchell is one of the top cornerbacks in the nation according to Scout.com. The nation's 5th ranked cornerback prospect has seen his recruitment start to pick up recently as he's becoming a national recruit. NoleDigest caught up with Terrence to get his thoughts on his recruitment and to see where FSU is with him at this time.

Tampa-Hillsborough Senior High standout Terrence Mitchell checked in as the 5th best cornerback in Scout.com's latest Top 300 last month. The 5'10" 160 pound prospect doesn't have a laundry list of offers yet, but that may soon change as programs from all over are starting to come after him.

"Florida State, Florida, Tennessee, Ole Miss, South Florida, Duke and FIU have offered me," Mitchell said, "and Alabama and Notre Dame have been telling me they're going to offer me soon. They've been talking to my coaches about how much they really like me."

Terrence told NoleDigest that he will be in town Monday to check out Florida State. The Seminoles are a team he has a lot of interest in right now, so getting a chance to see what they have to offer Mitchell is important.

"I'm very interested in FSU right now," said Mitchell. "I like how they play defense and I like how they use their defensive backs. I was talking to the coaches there and they were saying how they really want me to come. When I come Monday I will be checking out the coaches are, what their graduation rate is, if they play freshmen and what they think of me and my size. The last two are probably the biggest thing. Other than that I will probably just go off of the top of my head. It helps that they only signed one pure corner last year and that they won't have a lot of depth next year."

Mitchell says two in-state powers are recruiting him the hardest right now but that he isn't close to having a top 5 right now.

"I would say Florida State and Florida are the two schools recruiting me the hardest right now," explained Mitchell. "They like my aggressive style and how I jam at the line well. I really don't have any top 5 or anything because I would like to see some other schools offer me. LSU, Georgia, Alabama, Arkansas, Texas and USC are schools that I like. Growing up I was a fan of the game more than anything because I liked how the players in college are fighting to make it. I grew up liking Miami but that isn't going to play a role in my decision."

Terrence also excels in track as he is a standout 100 meter runner, long and triple jumper, as well as a 330 hurdles runner. He says track is something he'd like to do in college; with the success FSU has had recently in that sport that is something that could help the ‘Noles in the end.

"Right now I am still in track season so I haven't really focused on football right now," said Mitchell. "I'm running the 100, 330 hurdles and I am doing the long and triple jump. My fastest time in the 100 is 10.5. I want to run track in college, and knowing that FSU is the 3-time NCAA champion helps. They have a great track program."

Don't look for an early decision from Terrence as he intends on taking all of his official visits. Until then stay tuned to NoleDigest as we track Mitchell's recruitment, as well as the rest of the recruits from the 2010 recruiting class.
