Pahokee Standout Talks FSU Offer

One of the latest recruits to get offered a scholarship offer from Florida State is Merril Noel from Pahokee, FL. The gifted cornerback spoke to NoleDigest about the offer, as well as where the Seminoles are among his list of schools.

Merril Noel has seen his stock increase since his standout performance at the 7-on-7 tournament in Tampa last month. At that camp Noel showed that he is as capable a defensive back as any in the state in the 2010 recruiting class. Since then Merril's recruitment has picked up as he sits at 6 offers. According to Noel the offer from an in-state power stands out the most.

"Georgia, Tennessee, Wake Forest, West Virginia and FIU have offered me," said Noel. "The offer that sticks out though is the one I got from Florida State. That is a big one for me, and when I found out I got very excited because growing up they were my favorite school. That was the offer I had been waiting for. The style of play has me excited as a player, and the fan in me got excited because I've always liked them."

Noel told NoleDigest when he got offered he talked to FSU's Recruiting Coordinator James Coley. He said the two talked about him as a player and why the Noles like him. "I got the offer from Coach Coley," explained the Pahokee standout. "He told me he liked how I hit and that I let people know I am there with my coverage skills. I also talked to Coach Buckley which was really cool. He was telling me how I remind him of how he was at this stage, and how much he liked my swag. Playing for him would be great."

Merril has only visited FSU for the Bobby Bowden camp, but at this time the ‘Noles are the leader to land Noel's signature.

"I have only been at FSU for the Bowden camp last year," Noel said, "and I will be going up there this year to show the coaches how much I have improved. FSU is going to be tough to beat but I still have time to enjoy this process and see some other schools. I like West Virginia because of the speed they have, and I like Miami because they're close to home. Right now I would say my top 3 is FSU, Wake and Georgia."

Merril (pronounced Mah-rel) doesn't have any visits planned at this time. Stay tuned to NoleDigest as we track his recruitment, as well as the rest of the recruits from the 2010 recruiting class.
