ND Post Spring Recruiting Board: Running Back

Over the next few weeks NoleDigest will be looking at the Post-Spring Recruiting board for Florida State. After scouring the country checking out recruits, the coaches at FSU have seen their board change as interest has grown in some, while others have either committed to other schools or slipped down the list. In this installment we look at running backs.

Running Backs

Earlier in the year we looked at the running backs on Florida State's board. After the spring the board hasn't changed much.

1) Marcus Lattimore: Marcus is the top running back in the nation and Scout.com's number 2 prospect. Jimbo Fisher has made Marcus a major priority, and Coach Carter has made a huge impact as Lattimore has stated Carter is his favorite coach. FSU has made Lattimore's final 8 along with Alabama, Auburn, Penn State, Maryland, South Carolina, Clemson and North Carolina. FSU is looking to sign 2 backs in this class, and they will wait for Marcus. FSU has a lot better chance than people think.

2) Eduardo Clements: The saga of Eduardo's recruitment is well known amongst FSU fans. Bluntly, he isn't going to commit anytime soon, but the coaches at FSU have been working Eduardo due to the fact Clements is a natural leader. Several South Florida recruits will follow him. Georgia is still the public favorite, but FSU is right there. The coaches like him a ton, but there are others right there with Eduardo on the depth chart.

3) Giovanni Bernard: After the spring Gio moved himself towards the top of FSU's wish list. Bernard isn't as big as the other backs on this list, but his vision and balance make him a top flight back. Oklahoma is standing out to Bernard, but Florida and FSU are right there as well. Coach Coley has been working Bernard hard, so look for FSU to be in until the end.

4) Darion Hall: The Naples-Lely product isn't the national recruit like the others on this list, but this kid can tote the rock. Hall has excellent size and speed, and he is a guy who can take it to the house on any carry. There was a report out earlier this week that Hall was about to wrap up his recruitment and commit to Miami, but NoleDigest has heard that FSU is the favorite.

5) Brandon Gainer: Gainer and Hall are very similar backs, but Hall is faster. FSU wants a big back in this class, so Gainer is still high on FSU's board. Gainer, Jeffrey Godfrey and Joshua Reese all want to play in college together and FSU has been mentioned with all 3. Point blank FSU will take a commitment from any of the backs on this list.

Other targets: Ken Malcome (eliminated FSU), Roy Finch and Storm Johnson (LSU lean).
