ND Post Spring Recruiting Board: Tight End

Over the next few weeks NoleDigest will be looking at the Post-Spring Recruiting board for Florida State. After scouring the country checking out recruits, the coaches at FSU have seen their board change as interest has grown in some, while others have either committed or slipped down the list. In this installment we look at the tight ends on FSU's board.

Tight End

Signing 2 tight ends in the 2010 is very important for FSU. Here are the targeted recruits heading into the summer:

1) Neil Basford: The Bishop Kenny standout is turning into one of the more heavily recruited tight ends in the state. Heading into this past weekend it looked as thought the Seminoles were close to getting a commitment form Basford, as his relationship with Coach Coley and the need for tight ends makes the Noles look good. After camping at Florida it looks like the Gators may be looking at Neil closer. Basford has since backed off a possible commitment and it is now an in-state battle. If Florida does offer, look for Neil to spurn the Noles for his longtime personal favorite.

2) Dan Schneider: FSU offered Dan after seeing him this spring. After the offer Schneider instantly put FSU towards the top of his list. After visiting a few weeks ago the Noles have made the Avon Lake standout's latest cut down. There is talk that an offer from Ohio State may be coming soon; that offer may end Dan's recruitment.

3) Brian Vogler: FSU hasn't been talked much about with Vogler, but FSU is recruiting the huge tight end. FSU made his final 8 along with a host of SEC schools. Vogler has elite size and very soft hands, making him a highly regarded recruit at his position.

4) Trent Smiley: Smiley is another name that popped up on FSU's radar after the spring evaluation period. The former teammate of 2009 signee Will Secord is nearing 10 offers, and he has interest in FSU. Look for him to visit in July. Coach Coley has worked on building a good relationship with Smiley, so we'll know where FSU stands after a visit.

5) Jarrett Darmstatter: Coach Coley was out and about all spring as Jarrett was a late offer during the spring evaluation period. The NJ product doesn't know, much about the Noles, but he has interest in FSU because its location and playing time. Schools like Rutgers, ECU, Syracuse and a host of others have offered. Much like Smiley, we will not know the true interest Darmstatter has unless he offers.

Other targets: Davis Dudchock, Travis Dickson (coaches like this kid, but FSU trails a lot of schools), Kevin Haplea, Pierce Richardson (no offer) and Harrison Jones.
