ND Post Spring Recruiting Board: Linebacker

Over the next few weeks NoleDigest will be looking at the Post-Spring Recruiting board for Florida State. After scouring the country checking out recruits, the coaches at FSU have seen their board change as interest has grown in some, while others have either committed or slipped down the list. In this installment we look at the linebackers on FSU's board.

Linebackers

Florida State is looking to sing a few linebackers this year after signing only C.J. Mizell in 2009. After the spring it looks like FSU has a group of around 10 linebackers that they are looking at heading into the summer.

1) Jeff Luc: Luc is without a doubt the top middle linebacker in the nation. There may not be a recruit this year that is as physically impressive as Jeff is, which makes him a high priority recruit for nearly 50 schools. Jeff hasn't said much in regards to his recruitment as he has generally been pretty guarded in what he's thinking. Right now he's taking a tour of schools he's looking at. FSU will be battling a ton of other programs, but this one is rumored to be an in-state battle according to several different sources.

2) Christian Jones: Simply put Christian is as gifted as any outside linebacker in the country. According to some people who saw Jones this spring he looked great, as he is approaching 230 pounds. Jones is a guy who could possibly put his hand down in college, but in the mean time he'll be listed here. FSU is still in a good spot here for Jones.

3) Khairi Fortt: FSU really likes Fortt and they are among a large group of programs going after him. Fortt didn't disappoint this spring and he firmly entrenched himself as one of the best outside linebacker this year. Right now it looks like FSU trails a bunch of other programs like Penn State, USC and a host of others. NoleDigest feels right now there's more interest on FSU's side.

4) Kendall Moore: Kendall is a middle linebacker that also plays several offensive skill positions. He is a big guy who moves very well for his size. Over the spring Moore was impressive at the Charlotte combine. Surprisingly FSU has remained at the top of Moore's list along with N.C.State and Notre Dame.

5) Telvin Smith: Telvin's recruitment really picked up steam this spring as several high caliber BCS programs extended the lanky outside linebacker. LSU and Georgia have really caught Smith's attention along with the Seminoles. After a great camp at Georgia this past weekend Smith says his recruitment is a little more open. Many feel once he attends Seminole Showtime this recruitment could possibly be wrapped up soon after.

6) Ladarius Owens: FSU made Owens' top 5, but there is little chance this guy chooses FSU.

7) Alexander Ogletree: The brother of 5-star safety Alec Ogletree reports an FSU offer. At 5'10" and 200 pounds Ogletree is a tad undersized as a linebacker. IF FSU recruits him it could possibly be as a rover.

8) Nigel Terrell: Terrell had a great camp visit at Tennessee as he showed great fluidity in coverage and looks like he has the frame to play at 230 pounds in college. Terrell is an interesting prospect that FSU is pursuing, but right now it looks like all of the schools are chasing Auburn at this time.

9) Mark Wilson: Earlier this spring word came out that Wilson was offered by FSU. It looks like the news for the middle linebacker was a little premature. Wilson is a guy FSU will continue to evaluate as an offer could come if there is improvement during Wilson's senior year.
