ND Post Spring Recruiting Board: Safety

Over the past few weeks NoleDigest has been looking at the Post-Spring Recruiting board for Florida State. After scouring the country checking out recruits, the coaches at FSU have seen their board change as interest has grown in some, while others have either committed or slipped down the list. In this installment we look at the safeties on FSU's board.

Coming into the 2010 recruiting class the coaches at Florida State were looking at signing at least one safety this year. Early on they got a commitment from Lakeland-Kathleen standout Chad Abrams, but the coaches are still recruiting several other targets. Many have already committed to other schools, but there are several still on FSU's board.

1) Chad Abrams: Back in March the Seminoles got a commitment from Abrams, a recruit many people didn't know much about. The coaches at FSU had known about Chad and his ability as a playmaker at safety and on special teams, so when he committed they happily took it.

2) Brian Robinson: Right now the St. Thomas Aquinas safety has offers from schools like Alabama, Florida, Ole Miss, Georgia, Tennessee and Miami. If FSU plans on bringing another safety in look for Robinson to be one of the first recruits to be evaluated by the coaches.

3) Davin Hawkins: Keep an eye on this kid from Etowah High in Attalla, AL. Hawkins was set for a huge junior season until he hurt his knee after 6 games in. In those 6 he was flat dominating as he had 47 tackles, 6 interceptions and 5 pass break-ups. Hawkins visited FSU back in February, and since he has listed the Seminoles as a school he is interested in. If he comes back healthy look for a ton of schools to offer quickly.

Others targeted: Alec Ogletree (Georgia commitment), Jarrick Williams (Alabama commitment), Jonathan Dowling (Florida commitment), Chris Badger (Notre Dame commitment), Greg Dent from Belle Glade, Korey Jackson from Homestead and Joe Lofton from Ft. Walton Beach.
