One of the summer camp circuit top performers has been Orlando wide receiver Kenny Shaw. Every camp he has been to he has been one of the top players regardless of position, and he has most certainty shown to be one of the top wide outs in the state for 2010. Kenny had another standout performance at Seminole Showtime. He told NoleDigest that getting the chance to work at Florida State's premier camp was a great thing to be a part of.
"The camp was wonderful," Shaw said, "and getting the chance to put on that Garnet and Gold helmet felt wonderful. "I loved wearing that helmet and being out there running routes and just taking part in the camp."
Florida State had been Kenny's leader for some time now so wearing that helmet really made Shaw think about ending his recruitment during the event.
"Just the whole thing made it real in terms of what it would be like to play here," said Shaw of FSU. "I love it here but my parents want me to wait to make my decision. My dad came today and he likes it a lot. My mom just wants me to wait and see what happens. But today showed me a lot about FSU and I love it here."
Shaw says he came to the camp wanting to prove that he is one of the best players in the state. At the end of the event he feels he was able to accomplish that goal. There aren't too many people there who would disagree.
"I feel that I was one of the better players there today," Shaw said. "I came here with the mentality that I am the best one wherever I go. I think I showed that today with my route running, catching the ball and getting in and out of my breaks"
The highlight for Shaw was the one on one's because it gave him the chance to showcase his skills. He did say there was one corner in particular who was a tough match-up for him.
"The one on one's were the best part of it because of the intensity of it," Shaw said, "plus it gave me the chance to go up against some really good defensive backs. There were some good ones there like Keion Payne. He has really good hips and he was able to really keep up with me."
While Shaw didn't pull the trigger for FSU he says the coaches have made him feel he knows where he belongs.
"The coaches were showing me a lot of love and I can feel it from them," said Shaw of FSU. "They said I'd look good in Garnet and Gold and that means a lot. It really means a lot."
Stay tuned to NoleDigest for further updates with Shaw as we track his recruitment heading into the fall.
