Onwukaife Commitment #10

Florida State's recruitment has picked up momentum since Seminole Showtime. Today the Seminoles got their 4th commitment in a week as Texas linebacker Holmes Onwukaife gave FSU his verbal commitment. NoleDigest broke the news just minutes ago, and we caught up with him to talk about his decision.

Holmes Onwukaife was the find of Seminole Showtime. Coming in as a recruit who had just made the move to linebacker Holmes stole the show as he was one of the top defensive recruits in attendance. Since then FSU has been pursuing Holmes hard as they offered him days after the camp. About 35 minutes ago Onwukaife ended his recruitment by committing to FSU.

"About 30 minutes ago I called up Coach Coley to make it official," said the 3-star linebacker. "He put me on the phone with Coach Fisher and I told them I wanted to make it official and commit to Florida State. They were very thrilled with my decision, and I have to say this feels wonderful. Coach Coley told me they've been getting a lot of praise for finding me. I've done a lot of research into FSU both off and on the field and I feel they are the best option for me."

Coming to Seminole Showtime paid off for Holmes, and he says getting a chance to soak in the environment really helped his decision.

"Just taking the trip up there was important to me," explained Onwukaife. "My father and I loved the family atmosphere and we felt very welcomed and valued while we were there. I feel that Tallahassee is a lively place to be and I am going to enjoy my next 4-5 years there. I will achieve success there."

Holmes told NoleDigest that he chose FSU over UCLA.

"I chose FSU over UCLA because of the fit," Holmes said, "but UCLA was doing a good job recruiting me. It came down to I want to play on the east coast and FSU just set themselves apart so much from everyone else. The bond with Coach Coley my father and I have is great."

Onwukaife had a few words he wanted to share to FSU fans.

"Tell the fans that I appreciate their support and that I am very excited to come to FSU," said Onwukaife. "They showed me a lot of support at Showtime. I am going to bring them some Texas talent (laughs)."
