Friday afternoon sources told NoleDigest that 3-star outside linebacker Telvin Smith from Lowndes High had committed to Coach Fisher and Florida State. NoleDigest had initially broken the commitment from Smith, but after speaking to sources close to him decided to hold off on making it official due to Smith and his family wanting to sit on the decision heading into his football camp this weekend.
NoleDigest was told that Telvin had made his decision but Tuesday when he returned from his camp it was going to be made official publicly. Word got out and now it's known that Telvin is a Seminole.
"I am a Seminole," said Smith. "It came down to comfort and I am most comfortable with the coaches at FSU. I told Coach Fisher I wanted to commit so I went ahead and did it."
Smith said knowing that Greg Reid and Gerald Demps are there, and that Ed Christian is committed, the transition is going to be easy.
"Knowing those guys are there is going to be easier for me to adjust to college," said the FSU commitment. "That's been in the back of my mind."
Florida State is building one heck of a linebacker class and with Smith the Noles are getting an athletic, speedy and playmaking linebacker to a group that is primed for a great future.
Stay tuned for more from Telvin after the weekend, and as NoleDigest reported a few days ago look for the good news to continue for FSU.
