Trickett Commitment 14 for FSU

Commitment 14 is in the house for Florida State as North Florida Christian quarterback Clint Trickett has decided to join the 2010 class for Florida State. NoleDigest caught up with him to get his thought on his decision and to see where he goes from here in terms of his senior season.

The recruitment of Clint Trickett at North Florida Christian was always interesting as his father was the offensive coordinator at Florida State, and he was close to the other coaches at FSU. Early on FSU seemed to be on the outside looking in for Trickett, but behind the scenes the Seminoles have been a tough school to beat for the nation's 32nd best signal caller.

Wednesday Clint decided to end his recruitment and commit to FSU as he says he's been thinking about it for a while now. In the end it came down to how comfortable Clint was with the staff and his surroundings at FSU.

"I've kept this whole thing quiet with FSU because I didn't want to hurt them if I didn't choose to commit to them," said Trickett. "I feel that they would have gotten some bad publicity for it, and the local fans would have given me some grief had I not chosen FSU. Many knew I had the offer, but I kept the interest real close and quiet."

"I've had in my mind for the last month that I was going to commit," continued Trickett. "I wanted to see if things were going to change, but I am very happy with this and I am glad it is over. I am ready to go to FSU and compete."

One of the biggest reasons FSU had been apart of his recruitment was Coach Fisher. Clint has a long time relationship with Fisher and he says he knows what lies ahead with him at FSU when he takes over as the head coach.

"Coach Fisher had a big impact on my decision to commit," explained Trickett. "He is a great quarterback coach and he is going to be a great head coach when he takes over. Coach Fisher is a guy who can teach me a lot."

At first there was some trepidation about committing to FSU for Trickett but he and his family decided it was the best move for him in the end to choose the ‘Noles.

"At first my dad was unsure about me coming to FSU but we talked about it with some other people who've gone through the same thing. We decided it was the best move for me. I feel that I have a chance to compete there once Christian (Ponder) leaves. I'm most comfortable at FSU and that is what mattered most."

With his commitment out of the way Clint wants to turn his attention to helping build the class for 2010.

"I've talked to Brandon Willis, Giovanni Bernard and Christian Jones already," Trickett said, "and I plan on getting up with Kenny Shaw here soon. Those are the guys I am targeting first. The ones I spoke to were happy about it and they said a lot of good things about it. I am going to get some numbers and start as soon as possible so we can build this class."
