The commitment of Damien Jacobs is big for Florida State as they have been fiercely targeting the H.L Bourgeois defensive tackle for some time. FSU coaches first noticed Jacobs while evaluating the talent in Louisiana, and since then they have made the 6'4" 295 recruit a high priority.
Damien will be bringing elite size to the defensive front for FSU, and that is a major reason why they targeted Jacobs. Add to that his quick feet and strength Jacobs became a prime target for the Seminoles.
Since FSU officially offered Damien they have been near or at the top of the list for Jacobs, and there were several times when it seemed he was very close to making his decision. When NoleDigest spoke to him at the FSU vs. Miami game it seemed that he was extremely close as he said, "Man I love it so much." When we asked him if he was close to making his decision he said, "yeah, I am close man. I don't know really what is keeping me from this decision."
NoleDigest was surprised he didn't pull the trigger then, but he wanted to go home and talk it over with his family, and that it what he did. Now that it is over Jacobs says he is happy.
"I feel really good," said Jacobs. "I just liked the coaches, and I like what FSU has to offer me as a player."
Jacobs was heading to his game tonight so look for more from Damien later tonight.
As a junior Damien had 92 tackles, 76 for a loss, 6 sacks and 4 forced fumbles.
