NoleDigest Recruiting Board: Defensive Line

Signing Day is less than 2 months away. Florida State's recruiting board has changed over and over again since the start of the 2010 recruiting cycle as kids have committed to other schools, while others have kept the Seminoles in contention. NoleDigest looks at the remaining recruits on FSU's board, starting on the defensive side of the ball with the defensive line.

Heading into the 2010 recruiting cycle Florida State knew they needed to sign a great defensive class. While some top targets have committed to FSU and others to different programs, the board on the both sides of the ball is still loaded with talent. NoleDigest looks at the remaining targets and discusses the chances the Seminoles have with each recruit starting with the defensive line.

Defensive End

Commitments: Darious Cummings and Tavaris Barnes

Top Targets:

Corey Lemonier: Lemonier is arguably the top target at defensive end for the ‘Noles. The Hialeah product wrapped up his officials this past week when he visited LSU. He took a visit to FSU in September when they played Miami, and he's stated since then that FSU remains towards the top of his list. Coach Coley has been working very hard recruiting Lemonier, and the hire of Coach Gran should help as he was Corey's recruiter at Tennessee. While teammate Calvin Smith recently committed to Tennessee many feel that won't play too much of a role. FSU has a great shot as there is immediate playing time and it is close to home. The Seminoles have just a good a shot as any here.

Wayne Dorsey: The top JUCO defensive end is down to a final 3 of Ole Miss, FSU and North Carolina. He has taken officials to each and is know weighing his options. With graduation a few weeks away he is expected to make up his mind soon. All 3 were great visits for Wayne, so it is going to come down to who offers the most playing time and who can prepare him to excel on and off the field. Right now there are no indications of which way this will go.

Other Targets:

Dimitri Orr, Corey Crawford (Clemson commitment) and Ego Ferguson (FSU is trying to get his last official).

Missed On:

Corey Miller (Tennessee), Adrian Hubbard (Alabama), Lynden Trail (Florida), David Perry (Miami).

Defensive Tackle

Commitments: Cameron Erving, Anthony McCloud and Damien Jacobs

Top Targets:

Charles Deas: Every indication points to Deas being in this class as long as he makes his grades. Originally Deas committed to LSU in 2006 but he hasn't been able to meet the necessary academic requirements to get into college. Getting Deas would be a major coup for the Seminoles. Word is he's borderline on making grades this semester.

Bjoern Werner: FSU recently offered Werner but it looks like the Seminoles will need to pick up the pace if they want to be an option. Miami, Maryland, Oregon and Cal are schools sticking out to Werner at this time.

Other Targets:

Pat McNeil (no offer yet), Eric Young (FSU is keeping tabs on Young. He is a big tackle at 350, and he is the type of guy FSU wants with the possible move to a 3-4 scheme.), and Eric Humphrey (recently blown up on the recruiting scene. Schools like Oklahoma, Texas, Clemson, etc have offered).

Missed On:

Brandon Willis (Tennessee), James Carmon (Mississippi State) and Elliot Porter (LSU).
