Official Visitor Rundown for Jan. 22

With Signing Day around the corner Florida State will be hosting several recruits on the second to last visit weekend for the 2010 recruiting cycle. NoleDigest previews the visitors this week and talks about the Seminoles' chances.

Florida State will be hosting several targets this weekend that they're making a strong push for as the 2010 recruiting cycle comes to a close. NoleDigest previews the visits and talks about the chances the Seminoles have at each prospect.

Ego Ferguson

The rundown: Florida State has simply done work here. Even when they were eliminated from contention early in the process the coaches kept on Ego. Coach Haggins has to be applauded here as he has been the primary recruiter here. This will be Ferguson's 4th visit as he has visited Notre Dame, LSU, and Cal. Miami is up next, and it is a program he has some ties to.

Impact of the visit: For FSU to get Ego on campus for an official is huge, but they have more ground to make up if they are to pull the shocker and land Ferguson. This is FSU first real crack to show the talented defensive lineman what they can offer, so they must go all out here showing Ego everything from the academics to the playing time available.

There are some who feel FSU has a good shot here, but they are rumored to trail some other schools. Crazy things have happened before and FSU has made late run at recruits before. Things have to go perfect here for the Seminoles to have a shot.

Demar Dorsey

The rundown: Demar was an early commitment to Florida and he has stayed committed to the Gators for some time. He maintained throughout the process the possibility that he'd take some visits, and now he is following through with that. FSU recently turned up the heat for Dorsey. While he says he is still pretty firm in his recruitment the fact he is taking visits leaves the door open for other programs.

Impact of the visit: The Seminoles are looking to possibly add another playmaking safety and Dorsey is a guy they have targeted. Those close to UF say that this is just a fun visit and that Dorsey will stick in the end. Those on the flip-side look at Dorsey and the sheer number of defensive backs the Gators have committed, feeling that Demar is truly looking at other options.

Dorsey has a great relationship with Coach Gran sating back to when Gran was at Tennessee. Dorsey has stated that Gran is a primary reason FSU is making a push. Dorsey is a recruit FSU feels they have a good shot at so a visit could lead to another heated battle between FSU and Florida.

Danny Foose

The rundown: Foose is a recruit FSU Coach Rick Trickett has been recruiting for a few weeks. With an offer FSU entered the picture for Foose, thus the visit this weekend.

Impact of the visit: Foose is expected to make a commitment after this visit so FSU is going to have to show him all they have to offer. Some feel the offer and immediate visit bodes well for FSU but Foose is looking for a close relationship with players and coaches first. He's seen that on visits to UCF, Louisville and Illinois. As long as the coaches show that they stand a good chance of landing Foose after the weekend.

Terrence Brooks

The rundown: Brooks has been committed to FSU since Seminole Showtime. Recently he took a visit to USF, leaving some to wonder the status of his commitment.

Impact of the visit: While the visit rose some eyebrows there is no reason to think Brooks wont ink with the ‘Noles in a few weeks. This visit will allow Brooks to become more familiar with the new coaches.

Cameron Erving

The rundown: Erving has been firmly committed since March.

Impact of the visit: As Erving told NoleDigest this week there is no other school even under consideration so this is just a visit for the sake of a visit. Erving is all Seminole.

Eric Dungy

The rundown: Dungy is a recruit the coaches have likes for a while but it has been a numbers crunch that has kept them from offering till late. Dungy has a greyshirt offer from the Seminoles with a slight chance it could turn into an offer for 2010. Oregon is another school that has gotten on Eric as it looks like a battle between the Seminoles and the Ducks.

Impact of the visit: Eric is an FSU fan and this is a visit he's been looking forward to. He'll get a chance this weekend to see FSU up close. Oregon is making a push but some feel this weekend will seal the deal for FSU regardless if he's apart of the 2010 or 2011 recruiting class.
