Is FSU Going to Close Strong?

The recruiting board for the Seminole coaches has narrowed down to a select few as National Signing Day approaches. NoleDigest looks at the remaining uncommitted targets for Florida State and gives their prediction on where they're going to end up. Are the Seminoles primed for a classic huge close to the 2010 class?

The long, arduous recruiting process for 2010 will be closing its book in a little more than a week. Florida State has built a good class heading into the final week, but there are a slew of blue chip targets remaining on their board that they're waiting for to make a decision.

The Seminoles stand in a good spot for many of these recruits, while others they're still fighting to land. Looking at the board for the Seminoles it looks as though there are 14 guys remaining that the coaches are waiting on to hear from.

NoleDigest gives their best guess on where FSU stands at this time with each recruit and gives a prediction on FSU's chances.

Percentage Breakdown

NoleDigest will be giving a percentage on the likelihood of FSU landing the remaining targets. Here is how the percentages break down:

85-100%: A done deal for FSU/Heavy lean

84-70%: Strong lean/FSU is the favorite

69-55%: May be a lean to FSU, but fighting others

54-40%: FSU is a legit option, but it's not favorable

40% or below: Not going to be a Seminole

Remaining Targets

Shaydon Akuna: The Hawaiian linebacker has kept FSU atop his list with Oregon State since the offer several months ago. He is expected to visit this coming weekend. Oregon State has been a strong contender due to the amount of Polynesian players they have. Many close to Akuna's recruitment have felt if FSU gets him on campus for the visit, shows him a good time, etc., they'll land him. Percentage Chance: 68%

Mack Brown: Brown's recruitment has been interesting over the stretch run. He's remained committed to Florida but FSU has been trying to get him in for a visit on the last weekend before Signing Day. Mack has stated repeatedly he will not be making the visit publically, but there is a lot of smoke saying a visit is possible. Right now the Seminoles have a long way to go. Percentage Chance: 45%

Jeremy Deering: A week ago it looked as though Deering was going to be heading to FSU. While that is still an option we'll talk next about a possible target that may be pushing him out of this class. FSU is high on Deering and they may try to fit in the talented athlete. With a small amount of spots open and a sizeable amount of recruits left there may not be room for Deering at the end of the day. Percentage Chance: 50%

Demar Dorsey: What a week it's been for Dorsey with regards to his recruitment. Did the longtime Florida commitment flip? Or didn't he? FSU showed everything they can offer Dorsey last weekend and it looks as though it may have worked. Florida will have an in-home this week and they will not be giving up. This isn't over yet. Percentage Chance: 95%

Eric Dungy: It's down to FSU and Oregon for Dungy. His offer at this time is for a greyshirt. The chances of him being in the 2010 class are slipping by the day. This boils down to how the Oregon visit goes and if they'll take him this year. Percentage Chance: 40%

Ego Ferguson: Florida State did a great job while Ego was in town for his official. LSU, Miami and a few others are fighting for Ego. Some FSU commitments feel that they'll be teammates with Ferguson but he did not give any sort of commitment over his weekend visit. FSU will have to work hard over the last week if they want to land the talented defensive lineman. Percentage Chance: 63%

Danny Foose: FSU got on Foose late but after the visit they've now become a strong candidate to land the Jersey lineman this week. Percentage Chance: 85%

Christian Green: Green's recruitment has come down to FSU and Georgia will Florida trying to make a final push. Over the past month Green hasn't said too much. The talk around him is that FSU has started to pull away. With his older brother accepting an offer from FAMU, Green's recruitment is all about wrapped up. Percentage Chance: 98%

Christian Jones: Look for this to be an interesting week for fan bases of schools recruiting Jones. Christian has taken the whole recruiting process in stride and given many programs a shot to land him, but FSU has been the one constant throughout. Florida is making a late run and there are some insiders who feel the Gators may have done enough to land him. NoleDigest is hearing the opposite. Percentage Chance: 96%

Darrin Kitchens: FSU would like to land Kitchens but it seems as though the Seminoles are slipping a bit. With Nigel Terrell sticking with his commitment at this time and Jones looking good for this class there may not be anymore room. This is a hard one to predict at this time because some feel FSU would take Kitchens regardless. Percentage Chance: 53%

Corey Lemonier: Corey has stated recently he's come to a decision but he won't make it public knowledge until next Wednesday. It looks to be down to FSU and Auburn with a slight chance for the Canes at this time. Both camps feel good about Corey right now. NoleDigest has heard the depth chart will be the factor that propels FSU to the "win". Percentage Chance: 86%

Calvin Smith: Calvin was set to go to Tennessee but now his recruitment is open as he's taking visits before he decides. There have been some rumors that those close to Calvin want him out of state for college while Smith is very open to attending FSU. NoleDigest heard from sources this week that FSU may be close to landing Smith. Percentage Chance: 73%

Bjoern Werner: FSU needs Werner in this class and they've felt good about their chances since his visit. Oregon has ties to his high school coaches so that is a reason why many feel that is where Bjoern will end up. He has stayed in contact with current Seminole players, which is a good sign, but he has not made any decision yet. Percentage Chance: 70%

Tramell Williams: FSU has stayed in contact with Williams off and on throughout the process and Williams has visited FSU unofficially several times. NoleDigest spoke to Williams this past weekend and he is unsure if he'll be making an official visit this coming weekend. He did say FSU is coming on hard for him. Percentage Chance: 54%
