Jones is all SEMINOLE!

Christian Jones' recruitment has come to an end as he announced his decision to play for Florida State. NoleDigest spoke to him after his announcement to talk about his decision.

Throughout the 2010 process Christian Jones was expected to be a Florida State Seminole, but Jones took his process in stride and gave every other school a chance to sway him. In the end Christian did as expected and is signing with FSU.

"It's a relief and it's been a long process," said the 4-star linebacker. "To be honest I didn't know until about 15 minutes before hand what I was going to do. I called my brother and talked to him about it; he told me to do what's best for me and to follow my heart. I talked to my dad and he said the same."

A late conversation with Jimbo Fisher helped seal the deal.

"Coach Fisher and I talked before I announced," said Jones. "I was nervous about it and he was just telling me to calm down and relax. He was telling me how they want me up there and about how this decision is for me. He really helped me out."

Reports surfaced Wednesday that Jones had been telling recruits from other programs he was heading their way. He refutes that as he says he never told anyone he was coming.

"I never told any committed recruit I was coming to their school," explained Jones. "It was close between Florida, Notre Dame and Tennessee after FSU. It came down to where I was most comfortable and where I fit best."

Jones took an unofficial last weekend to FSU as he wanted to familiarize himself with the new defensive coaches. He told NoleDigest that visit helped out in the end.

"I wanted to go there and get a better relationship with Coach Stoops and the others," said Jones. "I was able to do that and it helped out a lot."

While the Jones' have a tradition of playing linebacker at FSU Christian wants to make his own name and leave his footprints on the FSU program.

"I am looking forward to making a name for Christian there," said Jones. "While the coaches told me I can come in and compete it will be on me to come in, work hard, and be the playmaker I plan on being."

Today looks to be a hectic day for Christian as he has been inundated with interview requests. Stay tuned to NoleDigest for more with Jones later this week.
