Green Talks FSU Decision

Florida State didn't have the day they wanted but it did end well as Christian Green has signed with Florida State. NoleDigest was on hand for live coverage of the event, and we got a chance to interview him after as he talked about his decision.

Christian Green's recruitment has been followed by just about every Florida State fan across the country. Many fans figured it'd be only a matter of time before he joined the 2010 class when the process started, but Green made it known he was going to take his time and think out and research his choices.

When Wednesday came around Green had his final 2 trimmed down to FSU and Georgia. While there was some late thoughts about what he wanted to do Green decided that FSU was the best fit for him and that is where he wanted to play his college ball.

"It was difficult for sure and I couldn't sleep last night," said the 5-star wide out. "I couldn't get a judgment on what I wanted but it just came down to I think FSU is the right fit for me and its where I feel most comfortable. I feel like FSU is heading in the right direction."

Late in the process there was some talk that Christian had started to get some pressure to stay in state and keep the family tradition of FSU going. He said that was not the case and that he gave all of his choices a fair chance.

"I know that it seems like since my mom went there and my cousin went there that I'd be made to go there," Green said, "but they let me make my own decision. I threw all the ties out of the window and made sure that I was comfortable more than anything."

Green talked about how everyone thought he was a Seminole no matter what happened.

"A lot of people said well you're going to be a Seminole, but when you start getting all of these schools offering you and you start taking these visits you kind of want to see what else is out there," explained Green. "FSU was my dream school and at the end of the day I am happy with my decision."

Green said he did call Georgia to let him know the decision he had made.

"Yeah, I called them and told them, and it was tough for me because I think Coach Richt is a good guy," said Green. "They have a great coaching staff and a great university. It was one of the hardest things I have had to do in my life."

During his announcement Green talked about the 2010 recruiting class for the Seminoles. He feels this class will be a major factor in helping bring the Seminoles back.

"I definitely think this is a strong class," said Green. "There are a lot of good players and a lot of good guys. I feel like we just have to come in and put the work in, compete everyday and just be ready."

Christian said that his visit last weekend helped him make his decision. When asked he said there was one factor he wanted to see in FSU that he needed to see in order to make the decision to be a Seminole.

"When I went up there before Coach Fisher was the offensive coordinator and the coach in waiting," Green said, "and the directions and focus from the players was going one way. I got to see the changes that the program has now under Fisher and I got to see that I can come in and help them."

"The overall direction is what I needed to see," continued Green. "When I went there before I wasn't sure the players wanted to win and didn't have the work ethic, but on my visit I really saw that in them. During the spring it was like that but the visit showed me these guys are hungry and that they are ready and they want to work hard."

Green is expecting to come in and compete for immediate playing time.
