FSU Interested in Trinity Catholic Standout

One of the standout camp performers at the recent UnderArmour combine in Jacksonville was Trinity Catholic athlete Chris Johnson. NoleDigest caught up with Johnson to talk about his recruitment, and to see if he'll be in town this weekend for FSU's Junior Day.

Chris Johnson's recruitment hasn't gotten off to a quick start as he only sits at one offer, but after his combine performance in Jacksonville last weekend that looks like it'll be changing soon.

Johnson is a gifted athlete and he showed his ability as he was one of the better performers at the event. At 5'10" 193 pounds Johnson has a good frame for a safety, and he showed excellent quickness in all of the drills. In the shuttle he posted a time of 4.37 seconds, in the 3-cone he posted a time of 7.37 and he ran a respectable 4.45. He is known as a powerful player, and he proved that putting up 29 reps at 185 pounds.

Johnson's lone offer right now is from South Carolina, but he says interest in him is growing.

"I have an offer from South Carolina right now and schools like Florida, Florida State, USF, Oregon and Miami are showing me interest."

FSU is a school Johnson has a ton of interest in. He has visited a few times previously and he plans on being in town this weekend for Junior Day. He says if an offer comes from the Seminoles he will give them a long, hard look.

"I've been interested in FSU since the 3rd grade," said the Trinity Catholic athlete. "If they offered they'd absolutely be considered in my top 3 with UF and Miami, but they'd probably be the favorite. I've been there a few times before and am probably coming this weekend."

The offers are sure to pour in over the next few months so there will be different schools for Johnson to consider. He does have a few factors that will play a role in his decision.

"I will be looking for academics, coaching and life after football with these schools," said Johnson.
