Carver Duo Impressed with Florida State

Carver is one of the top programs in Georgia year in and year out. Over the past several years the school has churned out some of the southeast's best players, and this year is no different as Isaiah Crowell and Gabe Wright are two of the nation's best. Both attended Saturday's Junior Day at Florida State. ND caught up with them to talk about the day's events and about their recruitment.

Florida State has tried to make in-roads at Carver High in Georgia over the past few years as the program often produces several high BCS caliber recruits every year. This recruiting cycle is no different FSU is pursuing two of the school's top players in 5-star running back Isaiah Crowell and 4-star defensive tackle Gabe Wright.

Both recruits attended the Seminoles' first Junior Day event of 2011 this weekend and both came away impressed what they saw. Both had been to Florida State before but this time they got a chance to see the school up close while also getting to familiarize themselves with the new coaches and the direction of the program.

"I got to meet the coaches and meet some players," explained Crowell. "I think it's a really good atmosphere down here. I want to get back down here for the spring game, watch it and see how the players treat the coaches and how the coaches treat the players."

"Everything went real well today," Wright said, "and you know, me and Isaiah came down here last summer, just came by and hollered, you know, for about 3 hours but this time we just got a good chance to be here, and really sit down with Coach Fisher and talk about all the new beginnings."

Gabe took this event as a chance to meet FSU's new defensive coordinator in Coach Stoops. He told NoleDigest that he is familiar with the family's name in the sport and that he likes what he heard from Stoops.

"Well, I've always liked Oklahoma and I know Coach Bob Stoops so I know Coach Mark has a good football pedigree," explained Wright. "I know he's going to a very good job. I really think Florida State is definitely on the rise."

It was very important that the coaches at FSU use this day to impress the Carver duo as the nation's elite are coming hard after both recruits. It looks like the coaches did a great job of that as both of the talented prospects have the Seminoles high on their respective lists.

"They are going to be at the top of the list, I really have a lot of interest in them and they will definitely be one of the schools in my top 5," explained the 5-star running back Crowell. "The others there are Alabama, Georgia, Clemson and Auburn."

"Well, Florida State is definitely my top ACC school," said Wright. "I told them that. They were before and now it's definitely sold out to FSU and Clemson. FSU definitely has a big lead in that race. Other programs I like are Oklahoma State, USC real strong and Notre Dame."

At this point it looks like both Crowell and Wright will be making their decisions either at a yet decided on All-Star game or maybe National Signing Day.

"We might make our decision at the All-American game," said Wright of when he'll make a decision. "We haven't yet decided which game we'll be playing in. I believe we'll make our decision then. If not, we'll just wait ‘till Signing Day."

"I'm going to be waiting until Signing Day," concluded Crowell.

Stay tuned to NoleDigest for much more on these two, as well as several of the top recruits in attendance at Saturday's Junior Day event.
