Prestwood Talks Junior Day and Recruitment

One of the recruits in town this weekend for Florida State's Junior Day was Plant City standout Jordan Prestwood. NoleDigest caught up with Jordan to talk about his visit and to see where he stands at this time with his recruitment.

It has been a busy month on the recruiting front for Florida State as they've had a very busy February. Soon after completing the 2010 class in the first week of the month the Seminoles hosted 2 Junior Days on back-to-back weekends.

This weekend the coaches played host to several dozen targets as they held their 2nd Junior Day today. One of the players in attendance was Jordan Prestwood from Plant City High. Prestwood grew up a huge fan of the Seminoles as he's attended numerous games over the span of his lifetime. Today, though, was his first chance to see the school from the eyes of a recruit.

"Growing up I was a huge Florida State fan," said the 4-star. "My family has season tickets and we've been up to a lot of games. Today I got to look at FSU as a recruit today. I was really impressed with what I saw and it was an awesome trip for me."

Jordan told NoleDigest that while he's enjoyed the games he wanted to see FSU behind the scenes, primarily the academics, facilities, and the coaches interaction with the players.

"I wanted to see the academics, how the people were at the school and I wanted to see the atmosphere with the coaches," explained Prestwood. "I liked what I heard on the academic side of it. They explained things to me and I think they are heading in the right direction that way. I feel that the coaches are top notch and an awesome staff. I got a chance for some one-on-one time with Coach Fisher and Coach Coley. That was great. They were telling me how they like me as a big tight end."

There was some consideration by those who follow recruiting that Jordan would possibly commit on his visit. He said that while he likes FSU he is keeping his options open at this time.

"I tried to come into this visit with an open mind," said Prestwood. "I was able to do that and it paid off. I want to keep my options open. I've been to Auburn, Alabama, Florida and South Carolina for Junior Days and FSU stands out to me. I don't have a leader at this time but FSU is sticking out a little."

Prestwood has a plan to narrow his choices down from here on out and plans to take his visits. He did say that if he felt the time was right he would commit before that.

"My plan is to have a top group by the start of my senior season," Prestwood said, "and then I would take those 5 visits and decide after that. If I did feel one place was right for me I would go ahead and commit."

Jordan's upcoming plans are to visit Notre Dame for a spring practice and to make back up to FSU once their spring practices get underway.

Stay tuned to NoleDigest for further updates with Jordan as we track his recruitment.
