Plantation Defender Talks FSU Visit

Plantation linebacker Ryan Shazier has seen the interest in him grow over the past month as he's showed flashes of athletic ability and speed as a linebacker or rush end. Shazier has started taking visits to some of the schools he is interested in. FSU got a visit on Wednesday. NoleDigest caught up with him to see how the visit went and to get the latest with his recruitment.

Plantation linebacker/defensive end Ryan Shazier saw his recruitment get started with an offer from Florida State, but since then the talented athlete has seen his recruitment really pick up as he has shown recently that he has the size and speed to play multiple spots in college.

Schools like FSU, Florida, Alabama, Ohio State, Ole Miss, USF, Nebraska, Oklahoma and a slew of others have offered Shazier because he is simply explosive. He has a great first step, knows how to track the ball, and has good acceleration for a guy 6'2" and still growing.

FSU was Ryan's first offer and they are a school Shazier has had a lot of interest in since he was a little kid. Earlier this week he made the visit up to Tallahassee to check out practice and meet the new coaches. Ryan told NoleDigest he was impressed with what he saw.

"I liked the coaches, the campus, the facilities, and the practice the most," Shazier said of his FSU visit. "I'd say the one thing that stood out to me the most was the academic side because I got to talk to the person over in broadcasting. That is what I want to do in college."

Shazier checked out practice when he was in town Wednesday. He said he really liked what he saw from the coaches in that the pace of the practice allows the team to keep going throughout.

"I'd say the pace and the coaches," said Shazier when asked what stood out watching the Seminoles. "The work they put in is great. I liked it because I saw a lot of work going on."

The Plantation standout got a chance to speak to the coaches at FSU. Ryan says they look at him as an outside linebacker that can rush the passer.

"The coaches were telling me how they like my abilities and my speed," Shazier said, "and they said they see me at linebacker and rushing on third down. I liked that, too."

Ryan isn't close yet to trimming his list yet but by the end of spring look for him to possibly begin to start that process.

"FSU showed me a lot but I don't have a list or anything yet," stated Shazier. "By the end of spring I will probably trim my list down."
