Beverly Takes in Garnet and Gold Game

Running back Eric Beverly has been a mainstay at Florida State over the past few years. Beverly was one of the dozens of recruits in town for the Garnet and Gold game, again coming away impressed with what he saw. NoleDigest caught up with Eric to talk about the weekend visit.

Eric Beverly was one of the first commitments for Florida State for the 2011 recruiting class. Beverly has been at FSU on several occasions, whether it be for games or practices. Eric was one of the visitors in town this weekend for the annual Garnet and Gold game.

"I was at FSU all day," said the firm commitment. "I spent time with the coaches, was in the locker room, spent time with the players and hung out with Coach Gran and Coach Dawsey. Today (Saturday) was a good day."

Eric has built a strong with relationship with the coaching staff overall, but he's become close with Coach Gran and Coach Dawsey. Beverly told NoleDigest he speaks to his future position coach and primary recruiter daily.

"I talk to Coach Gran and Coach Dawsey every day," explained Beverly. "I spent a lot of the scrimmage with Coach Gran. I like how straight forward he is. He always says the best are going to play, and that it's up to me to work hard to play. I have a great relationship with him."

"Coach Dawsey is my primary recruiter and I talk to him almost every day, too," continued Beverly. "I talk to him to keep up (with everything). I feel like I'm part of the family there and I am FSU all the way."

Eric has attended a few spring practices over the past month, and he says the attitude of the coaches and the players has changed in years past. He says there is more confidence around the program.

"The biggest change I have seen is that there is more confidence and swagger with the players," said Beverly. "Probably the greatest change I saw at the spring game was with the defense. They play as a team and have confidence. Last year they gave up a lot of big plays and were down on themselves. Coach Fisher has worked with that and made them confident. Now they fly to the ball and are working very hard."

Beverly will not be turning his attention to First Coast's spring practices as they begin the early stages of prep for the fall.

"I've already been in the weight room and getting ready for spring football," said Beverly. "We are really focusing on getting First Coast's first championship. My goals this spring are to run a lot to stay in shape, and to get everyone confident. We are going to work hard. I want to make the person next to me better."

Eric says his next trip to Tallahassee will more than likely be Seminole Showtime.
