Greg Dent had as good a senior season as any 2010 signee did in Florida. The Florida State signee was a 3 year standout for Glades Central. While Dent is an excellent athlete and potential standout safety, he will be coming in as a wide receiver for the Seminoles. As a senior Greg was All-State after accumulating 54 catches for 1,387 yards and 14 touchdowns.
Since Signing Day was completed Greg has been working hard in the classroom and weight room to get ready for summer workouts at FSU. He also has been spending time daily learning the playbook.
"I've been working out a lot, studying hard and reading the playbook," said Dent. "The playbook is a lot but it is starting to make sense to me. The workouts they gave us are sort of like what we do here, but with a focus on explosiveness. I've been working hard and I've been getting stronger."
With the low number of safeties on the roster and the performance this past spring from some of the players on the team there's been speculation that some players from the 2010 class may end up at safety instead of wide receiver. Dent says based off of recent conversations with the coaches he expects to stay on the offensive side of the ball.
"I'm a wide receiver and I think I am a better player there," explained Dent. "Coach Dawsey told me they have everything they need now and that I have a good shot to come in and compete for early playing time. They feel I can play as soon as possible."
Dent says his goal is to come in this summer, adapt and get ready for fall camp.
"I am ready to come in and work hard," said Dent. "I want to compete for a spot and I am going to work very hard to make that happen."
Qualification status: Dent is good to go. He has the grades and a qualifying test score.
