Beverly Dissapointed with ACL Tear

Eric Beverly got some terrible news this past week when he found out that he'd miss his senior season due to a knee injury. NoleDigest spoke to him about the injury and what's next for him.

Florida State commitment Eric Beverly received some bad news this week when he found out that the knee injury he suffered during spring would cause him to miss his senior season. He told NoleDigest how it happened and that he understands athletes from all over go through the same thing.

"It's a thing a lot of great athletes go through," said Beverly of the knee injury. "It happened on the 17th of last month. I was running out of bounds when a player hit me on my knee with his helmet. I tore my ACL. It is disappointing."

Beverly is slated to have surgery the 23rd, and after that he plans on getting healthy for when he goes to college. Eric said he has talked to FSU about the injury and that that the coaches have told him they're going to stick with him.

"Surgery is on the 23rd," Beverly said, "and after that it's going to be rehab, rehab, and rehab. I spoke to Coach Dawsey at FSU and he says they are going to stick with me."

With the low number of scholarships available for this year's recruiting class, many figured the coaches at FSU were okay with landing Eric as the lone running back for 2011 if an elite guy decided not to commit. While the coaches continue to push for guys like Isaiah Crowell, Marlin Lane, James Wilder and Aaron Green it will be interesting to see if FSU looks at any other backs for this year. A lot depends on how Eric recovers from the injury.

Stay tuned as we track Beverly's progress throughout his rehabilitation.
