Is Rivers Closer to a Commitment?

Stephen Rivers camped at Florida State last week. Entering the camp Rivers was open in his recruitment and looking to take his time in his decision. NoleDigest caught up with the Athens, AL standout to see if anything has changed with his recruitment coming off of the visit.

Over the spring Stephen Rivers emerged as a top quarterback target for Florida State. The Athens, AL signal caller has seen the interest from the FSU coaches grow since the offer came earlier in the spring. This past weekend Rivers made the trip down to Tallahassee to participate in the Jimbo Fisher Camp.

"I enjoyed it and I am glad I made the trip," Rivers said of the camp. "The coaches told me they are really interested in me."

Rivers came away from the camp impressed with FSU's facilities, as well as the coaching staff. He told NoleDigest that the entire package that FSU offers is a great fit for him, and that he is now getting closer to making a decision.

"I'm getting closer to my decision now," Rivers said, "and the FSU visit helped that. I don't have a time frame yet on the decision but now I am just making sure of everything. I am evaluating situations. I mean, no other place is really going to have better facilities than FSU so now I am just thinking through everything. FSU made a good impression."

Stephen didn't go into too many details regarding what he is evaluating, but he did say depth chart is something he is looking at. When asked about FSU he says he is familiar with them.

"Depth chart is apart of it," said Rivers of what he is looking at when evaluating the schools he is interested in. "I already knew about FSU's situation coming in (to the visit). There is always going to be competition and that is okay. All I can ask for is the opportunity to compete. I am just not trying to be hasty with anything."

As a junior Rivers passed for 2,200 yards with 23 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. He decided to sit out the 2010 basketball season in order to gain and maintain more weight for his senior football season.
