2012 wide receiver Chris Black is known for his shiftiness, speed and excellent route running ability. He was at Florida State Thursday working out at the Jimbo Fisher Camp. While he will be a junior this season Black showed why he is considered one of the state of Florida's best regardless of class.
"I came here with some First Coast teammates. We saw took a tour of the campus. I've just seen about everything here, though. I did really well at camp today (Thursday)," said Black of his performance. "The coaches were giving me a lot of props. Even Coach Jimbo Fisher was praising me a lot. He was joking with me a lot. He is pretty cool. They had us split up into different classes but I stayed with the class of 2011 and worked out with them."
One of the highlights of the camp for Chris was going against Florida Gator commitment Pop Saunders.
"I got the chance to go one-on-one with one of Florida's commitments in Pop Saunders," said Black. "I thought I did pretty well against him. The first time I ran past him on a fly route but the quarterback under threw the ball. The second time I made a really great catch that surprised the coaches. He is a pretty good corner, though."
Chris has taken a few visits this summer to other programs, but some have felt that the ties to First Coast makes the ‘Noles the favorite to land the talented 2012 product. Black told NoleDigest that he is really feeling FSU right now.
"I'm loving FSU right now," exclaimed Black. "I've thought about committing but no just yet. I'm still waiting on September 1st and waiting to take some more visits. I want to explore my options before I make my decision. I would say FSU, and then Clemson, are leaders right now."
Chris didn't get a chance to speak with Coach Fisher one-on-one Thursday but he is expecting to make a return trip this weekend.
"I didn't get the chance to talk to Coach Fisher much but I am probably going back there Saturday with Eric Beverly," said Black.
Chris is expected to be in Gainesville Friday for Friday Night Lights.
