Fort Pierce Central defensive end Giorgio Newberry has stated up until recently no favorites in terms of schools, and he has intended to keep the process open as long as possible so he could check out different schools to see what they have to offer.
After his visit to Florida State recently it seems as those plans may be changing. When asked if a decision is near, Newberry hinted that his recruitment could come to an end pretty soon.
"Yeah, that could be true," said Newberry when asked if his decision may come in the next few weeks. "I can't really comment on it, yet."
The reason why many insiders feel the Seminoles may land Newberry is the fact he is coming off a great camp visit, and that FSU has been a top choice for Giorgio throughout.
"The visit was nice," said Newberry of the FSU visit. "Everything stood out to me. The coaches were showing me a lot of attention; it feels like family up there. I just really like it a lot because they can offer me a lot as a player."
Newberry spent time with just about every coach on staff while in town, including new head coach Jimbo Fisher. He told NoleDigest that they talked a lot about where the program is heading.
"All of the coaches were talking about how they are looking forward to this season," explained Newberry. "Coach Fisher was talking about the changes he is making. He is doing some different things at FSU. On defense they want to go bigger, and they feel I fit what they are looking for."
Stay tuned for the latest on Newberry.
