Mason Hoping a Few SEC Schools Come Calling

Tre Mason, from Lake Worth (FL) Park Vista, said he's happy with his current top four of Penn State, Ole Miss, Rutgers, and West Virginia, but he's going to take it slow when it comes to making a decision. The 5-9, 185-pound Mason insists they are "even" and he's going to wait to make any choices in case he gets some late offers. There's one school he'd really like to hear from…

"I really want an offer from Florida. I was talking to coach Addazio and coach Drayton a lot and I love what the Gators have to offer so I'm hoping to hear more from them."

Tre Mason said he would also like to hear from Alabama. He expects an offer from Georgia as he is in contact with the UGA coaching staff. Currently, however, Mason has the best relationship with Ole Miss and Rutgers.

"I talk to coach (Chris) Vaughn at Ole Miss a lot and we talk about football but sometimes we just talk about regular stuff. I also talk to coach (P.J) Fleck from Rutgers a lot and it's pretty much the same type conversation. I talk to all of my top four schools like every other day though."

So when does the talented back want to make a decision?

"Honestly, I may wait until signing day just to make sure I've got everything figured out. I am still hoping for offers from places like Florida and Georgia so I just want to be patient."

In the meantime, Mason will focus on the schools where he knows he has offers. He said he probably won't visit anywhere during the season and may look to take official visits starting in January. There is some chance he will go ahead and take a visit during his bye week but he said he has to feel it out since his top four are all out of state.

"I want to see as many schools as I can after the season because I probably won't have time during it since my football schedule is pretty demanding. I'm not exactly sure where I might go on my bye-week but I'm trying to figure something out."

Mason runs a 4.39 40-yard-dash and rushed for 1,460 yards and 24 touchdowns in 2009. He said he's ready to do it even bigger this year.

"Our offense needs to pick it up and I want to get better numbers this year and do even better for my team. The defense is doing great, though, and we have a lot of talented guys there."

When asked how his top four might change if he did receiver offers from Florida or Georgia or Alabama, Mason hesitates saying:

"It would certainly change things. I wouldn't immediately change a bunch of things but I might have to think long and hard about the schools I like.
