Top 13 -- Week 3

This was a pretty calm week on the national scene with no overly shocking results and, this little shake up in our weekly top 13 rankings.

Of course the loss by Iowa at Arizona and some tougher than expected contests did shake things up juuuuust a little.

1. Alabama
2. Ohio State
3. Oregon
4. Boise State
5. TCU
6. Nebraska
7. Florida
8. Texas
9. Arkansas
10. Wisconsin
11. Oklahoma
12. LSU
13. Utah

Honorable mention: South Carolina

And for out weekly dubious achievement awards:

Cody Jones ---- The Georgia Bulldogs. They had the momentum and the ball at home in the fourth quarter. Then they gave it all up on a handful of plays and a dreadful punt by Ray Guy Award winner Drew Butler.

Laura McKeeman ---- Florida giving Jeff Demps' 26 carries. Yes- Demps is a fiery offensive weapon but going to him 26 times is clearly excessive. Florida needs to utilize Gillislee and Moody more in order to keep Demps to 20 carries or less. He won't be a weapon much longer if he's run into the ground.

Bob Redman ---- Notre Dame. The Fightin' Irish went O-fer Michigan losing to Michigan and Michigan St back to back. Are they ever going to find a coach?

Larry Vettel ---- The Ole Miss Rebels. When the season began it seemed certain Ole Miss would sweep through the month of September. Instead Houston Nutt's gang found a way to lose to both Jacksonville State and Vanderbilt in front of the home folks. Next they host 2-0 Fresno State. At least he doesn't have to worry about bowl practices messing up their December recruiting activities.

That's this week's poll. Next week's schedule will feature six of the SEC's seven 3-0 teams going head to head in what I'm calling "something's gotta give" Saturday. Alabama visits Arkansas, Auburn hosts South Carolina and Kentucky takes on Florida in The Swamp.

The seventh 3-0 team, LSU doesn't exactly have a gimme hosting West Virginia.
