Offense Shines in Scrimmage

The Gators scrimmaged today and the offense led the way. All three QBs were impressive as were others.

Ingle Martin, running the first team offense, was very efficient going 12-15 with a 40 yard touchdown to emerging star Dallas Baker. Gavin Dickey worked the underneath passing game to the tune of 11-14 with a touchdown to Reggie Vickers. Patrick Dosh got into the touchdown mix with a 65 yard touchdown on a busted coverage to Freshman Kenneth Tookes. Dosh finished 7-7. Ben Troupe made some nice catches while backup David Kenner missed practice with an injury. Keiwan Ratliff had a touchdown catch from Martin as well. The running game was led by Ciatrick Fason, who had 50 yards, while DeShawn Wynn and Jimtavis Walker had 35. Ran Carthon had limited carries for only 26 yards. The option was the main focus of the running game but the offense did run the ball 25 times with the main running backs. DON'T FORGET ABOUT US! OJ Small and Reggie Vickers had nice scrimmages. Small is a perfect inside receiver threat and knows how to work in traffic.

Protection was solid as expected and UF really worked on timing routes. Randy Hand is going to be a star for UF. Snell seemed solid in the run game, as did Degory.

The Defense still has some work to do but the athleticism is apparent. Speed rush from the edge will be a "Strong " point. New coordinator Charlie Strong coaches ends and Darrell Lee and Steven Harris each showed big play ability. Lee caused a fumble and was very disruptive, similar to the UAB game a year ago. Rod Dowdy was a pleasant surprise on the inside and may be a major factor at tackle

The linebackers with Channing Crowder, Brian Crum and Todd McCollough were solid. They all made most of the plays in goal line situations. Matt Farrior was solid but the x-factor is Tauren Charles. I am not sure he returns this spring.

The secondary blew some coverage but for the most part were in position to make plays but did not. The offense was doing a nice job of "timing" up the routes. I expect this unit to make the biggest improvement in big plays next week. Daryl Dixon caused a fumble and Cory Bailey continues to shine
