Leggett Taking Things Slow

The 5-11, 180-pound lock down corner from Miami (FL) Gulliver Preparatory made his first trip to Gainesville as the Gators hosted the Kentucky Wildcats. Leggett was with Tracy Howard, Ryan Shazier, Earnest Freeman and a host of other top prospects from South Florida.

"Everything went great they showed me a lot of love," Amos Leggett said.

"This was my first trip and I really like the football team. The fans are crazy about that team and it was real cool to see it in person."

Leggett is the cousin of current Florida wide receiver Quinton Dunbar and he did give out a little advice.

"Q told me to make sure I take things real slow and keep all of my options open. I like Miami a lot but Florida showed me so much love that they are in my top two right now."

Running back coach Stan Drayton is recruiting Leggett and they were able to get some time together before the trip was over.

"He was telling me I would have some playing time as a freshmen if I had the right state of mind. Coach Drayton just talked about playing early and things like that and I know I can play early and I don't want to redshirt."

Leggett talked about his strengths as a player.

"It's how physical I am at the line of scrimmage but I need to work on my speed moving forward."

Going into this trip it's very apparent that both Leggett and Tracy Howard had their minds made up about what they would experience this weekend. It's also very apparent that both players were blown away and shocked at what they found this weekend.

The Gators should be right there with the Canes all the way for both players. They have talked about playing together so it's not out of the question to see one team land both players. They could arguably be the top two corners in the state for the 2012 season. I give the slight edge to the Canes at this time but here come the Gators.
