Parker Impressed with the Gators

2012 big man Tony Parker, from Lithonia (GA) Miller Grove, is fresh off a visit to Florida and is heading to Duke this weekend. The 6-9, 275-pound center is a four-star prospect with some big-time offers. He hasn't officially narrowed his list but Parker has a rough idea of some schools he said he definitely couldn't leave out.

"I will sit down with my mom and dad and my coach soon to narrow it down because places are starting to come on pretty strong now. I want to figure out where I'm interested in and which schools I can't really see myself at. I know for sure I can't leave Georgetown, Florida, UGA, Tennessee, Duke or Louisville out. They will be on my final list."

Tony Parker's recent visit to Gainesville showed him what he wanted to see from the Gators.

"It went really well and I really liked it there. I got to see the guys I played with on the USA team and hang out with Brad Beal and Adonis Thomas and Amir Williams. It was so fun. We got to chill with some of the players at Florida too and we went to the football game. I got a feel for the college life there and it was really great. Florida will be up there on my list because it's a great school but they also have a great conditioning program. It's so important in my game for me to be in good shape and I like the way they do things."

Parker is a long way from a decision, however, and he has many more visits to take in the meantime. He said Duke, Georgetown, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Alabama, FSU, Miami, Louisville and Tennessee are recruiting him hardest. Here's what Parker had to say about Duke:

"I can't wait for my visit there. It is going to be crazy and I heard they are having their ring ceremony while I'm there so it will be good to see all that. This visit will be a big one for me and I'm just going to take it all in."

There's no question why Parker is garnering so much attention from big programs. His strength on the court is in his power and ability to rebound but he can shoot also. He said he plans to work on his shot to add even more dimension to his already dynamic game. One college coach that has told him to refine his shooting technique is Tennessee head coach Bruce Pearl.

"I've actually known coach Pearl since eighth grade. It would be a pretty special thing to play for him since we've had that relationship for so long. He is a great coach."

As for where he wants to end up when it's all said and done, Parker doesn't have a definitive answer. But, he does have an idea of which conference it could be in.

"I really like the SEC and the ACC. There is just something about those conferences that really makes me want to play there. I hope I get that chance."
