Jenkins Surprised by Meyer News

Jordan Jenkins, a 2012 defensive end from Hamilton (GA) Harris County, watched Urban Meyer's resignation press conference on ESPN in awe. Jenkins said he was shocked and feels the news that Meyer would step down came out of the blue.

"I haven't talked to anyone over at Florida but I still can't believe this. It really got me by surprise."

At 6-3, 235-pound, Jordan Jenkins said he is glad he's not a 2011 player and relieved he will have time to see how everything plays out at Florida so he can make a decision going forward about whether or not he's still interested in UF.

"I still like them a lot. I wonder who the new head coach will be. It might be a little weird at first to think Meyer isn't the head coach but the new guy will be great I'm sure."

Either way, Jenkins is right, he will have ample time to figure out the dynamic of whoever Florida brings in to take over. In the meantime, Jenkins has been talking to Alabama's Kirby Smart and Auburn's Ted Roof regularly.

"I talk to Alabama and Auburn a lot right now. I really like those schools. At Florida I talk to Brian White a lot. Coach White is cool and actually I talked to coach Meyer a lot. I guess that won't be happening now."

Jenkins said he is spending a lot of time on the basketball court and getting ready for spring football combines. He plans on participating in the Under Armour combine in January.
