Defensive Line Coach Possibilities?

Florida head football coach Will Muschamp will have to find a football staff and at the moment there is just one vacancy. With that in mind, and knowing that the possibilities are actually limitless, here is a list of candidates that could inevitably be in the hunt for the defensive coordinator position as well at Florida. Here is a list of possibilities moving forward.

Bo Davis (DT coach at Alabama)

We have seen the success of recent interior defensive linemen at Alabama. Davis gets his roots in coaching with Muschamp from working on the staff at LSU from 2001-2004. He also continued on to the Miami Dolphins with Muschamp and Alabama Head Coach Nick Saban.

Don Dunn (Player personnel at Texas Tech)

Dunn and Muschamp coached together at Auburn from 2006-2007. He has coached seven players in his time that have gone on to play in the NFL. He followed Tommy Tuberville to Texas Tech where he is now in charge of player personnel.

Oscar Giles (DE coach at Texas)

Giles is well respected among the coaching ranks. Under his watch Giles has coached stars such as DE/LB Sergio, Sam Acho , DE Eddie Jones, Alex Okafor, Brian Orakpo, Henry Melton, Tim Crowder, Brian Robison, and Lamarr Houston. All have been drafted or will be drafted in the NFL since 2006. He and Muschamp have spent the last three years on staff together at Texas.

Travis Jones (DL asst. with the New Orleans Saints)

He worked with Muschamp for two years at LSU in 2003-2004 and then the following year with the Miami Dolphins. His six years of NFL experience would certainly draw the attention of recruits.

John Papuchis (DE coach and ST coach at Nebraska)

In 2009, the defensive end position at Nebraska totaled 127 tackles, 33 tackles for loss and 12 sacks. He is a hot commodity right now, especially with his background in special teams and is a big time special teams coach. He was a grad assistant in Muschamp's last year at LSU.

Terry Price (Defensive Line coach at Ole Miss)

Muschamp and Price crossed paths at Auburn where he was a major factor in the success of the Tigers. Past players he coached include Quentin Groves, Antonio Coleman, Marquies Gunn, Stanley McClover, Reggie Torbor, and Marcus Washington.

Mike Tolleson (was DT coach at Texas)

After 13 years on staff at Texas coaching defensive tackles Tolleson is currently unemployed. Roy Miller, Frank Okam, Derrick Lokey, Rodrique Wright, Larry Dibbles, Marcus Tubbs, Maurice Gordon, and Casey Hampton among others were all conference or all-American players under Tolleson. He currently has seven former players on NFL rosters. Tolleson has also been the special teams coordinator at Texas for the last 11 years.
