Florida/Fairfield Canceled Due to Weather

After returning to Gainesville to prepare for their game against Fairfield, the Gators found out on Monday that they wouldn't be playing it. The Stags weren't able to get out of Connecticut for Tuesday's game because of a snowstorm that has poured down for days, causing airport closures.

Fairfield tried multiple ways to get to Gainesville, but they weren't able to make anything work. The game will not be rescheduled.

"We're certainly disappointed for our fans that the game had to be canceled but it wasn't for any lack of effort from Fairfield trying to get here, it was conditions that were out of everyone's hands," said Florida head coach Billy Donovan. "(Fairfield coach) Ed Cooley is a good friend, and I know they tried everything possible to get here and it just didn't work out."

All season and single game ticket purchasers will receive an automatic full refund of their tickets purchased for this game. This includes all season tickets, single game tickets or tickets designated as part of a special ticket plan. No action is necessary from customers who purchased this game ticket in order to receive a full refund.

Fairfield is riding a seven game winning streak and ranks 10th in the country in points per game allowed, letting up only 55.7. Fairfield also ranks 27th in the country in three-point defense.

Florida also fell out of the top 25 in the country on Monday when the new polls were released. Their loss last Monday to Jacksonville caused the Gators to fall out of the rankings for the second time this season.

The Gators will return to action on the road when they play in Cincinnati, Ohio, to take on Xavier. The game will tip off at 4 p.m. on December 31.
