Brissett is Officially a Gator

The Gators completed the 2011 recruiting class on Monday. Dwyer High School quarterback Jacoby Brissett faxed in his national letter of intent after announcing his decision to attend Florida on Friday night before his basketball game.

"Jacoby will be a good fit in our program," said head coach Will Muschamp. "He is an outstanding quarterback and we are excited to have him join the Gator family."

The new Florida staff didn't waste any time recruiting Brissett. Charlie Weis made his first recruiting visit to see Brissett, making the quarterback a priority from the beginning. Weis saw Brissett less than one week after his Kansas City Chiefs were eliminated from the NFL Playoffs.

Brissett is close friends with current Florida and former Dwyer players Matt Elam, Gerald Christian and Robert Clark.

The four-star quarterback, ranked as the No. 9 signal caller in the country, joins Jeff Driskel in this class. The Gators needed two quarterbacks to provide better depth at the position. They satisfied that need with one Army All-American and one Under Armour All-American.

Driskel is a five-star quarterback and ranked as the top signal caller for the class of 2011.

Brissett's signing gives the Gators 19 players in the 2011 class. Seven of those signees are already on campus in Gainesville and participating in offseason workouts.
