Bball's Murphy and Larson Arrested; Released

University of Florida basketball players sophomore forward Erik Murphy and freshman forward Cody Larson have been released on bond after the two were arrested in St. Augustine early Sunday morning. The two players were arrested on felony burglary charges. Both were to be counted on heavily for the 2011-2012 season, and time will tell what will come of this altercation with the law.

According to, the two players were booked at the St. Johns County Jail around 4 a.m. Sunday for breaking into a car.

Murphy and Larson are the first Florida basketball players to be arrested since 2007 when guard Brandon Powell was arrested on suspicion of purchasing and possessing marijuana. Head Coach Billy Donovan and his program have done a pretty good job of staying clear of the police blotter in his time in Gainesville.

Murphy averaged 4.8 points and 2.3 rebounds in 10.8 as sophomore during the 2010-2011 season. Larson was redshirted during his first season on campus because of the depth present in the Florida frontcourt. After losing Chandler Parsons, Alex Tyus and Vernon Macklin, the Gators hoped Larson's redshirt year would benefit him for more playing time during 2011-2012.
