No Status Change on Murphy and Larson

Florida head coach Billy Donovan spoke to the media on Tuesday and announced that there has been no status change in regard to sophomore forward Erik Murphy and freshman forward Cody Larson. The two were arrested last month and Donovan is waiting for the judicial process to run its course before making a decision. In the meantime, the two will remain on indefinite suspension from the team.

Billy Donovan told a gathering of the Florida media to introduce three new basketball assistant coaches that his final verdict on Erik Murphy and Cody Larson will not be made until he has all the results from the law side of things.

"Right now they are indefinitely suspended," Donovan said Tuesday. "One of the big things for me is to wait and see what actually happens. There are a lot of things they have to go through."

Donovan cited a charge that was later dropped against a team manager because it was found to be untrue as an example of why he should wait and see just what comes of the two that are charged with second-degree misdemeanor trespass.

"For me, (it is about) them getting through this and finding out exactly what they are being charged with and what is going to happen… then once it happens, me stepping in and react here," he said. "I also know in a lot of these situations when they happen, they have to play themselves out."

Donovan hinted that there may not be finality for the two in regards to their presence on the team, given a somewhat favorable outcome in the eyes of the law.

"Like I said before I am disappointed with what happened," he said. "I don't think those kids and their families are a reflection of what has happened. But, I do think this thing needs to get resolved and once it gets resolved and I find out what that resolution is, I can go from there. Until then, those guys will be suspended."
