Ledbetter Wants to Play Early

Rhaheim Ledbetter says his biggest strength is his speed and adds, he has the tools necessary to be a physical and exclusive safety at the collegiate level. With offers from top programs like Clemson, South Carolina, North Carolina, NC State, and Florida, Ledbetter is expecting a tough decision this fall. Fightin' Gators' Milani Beaudrault caught up with Ledbetter to break down his offers.

Rhaheim Ledbetter says "it's anybody's game" and adds, he doesn't plan to announce a top five until the start of his senior season. The Crest Senior High School prospect says he is looking for the complete package and wants to play early.

"I'm looking for a school with nice facilities, great academics, good football program and everything. Wherever I go I don't want to red shirt, I want to come in and compete. Every school I'm talking to agrees and say they want me to compete right away," Ledbetter said.

While Ledbetter says he is "not looking to stay close to home" he is considering two in state programs.

"One of the coaches from NC State came up to my school and he said he really liked me. He told me they need hard hitting safeties and that they want me to keep in touch," Ledbetter said. "North Carolina is really not a school I see myself heading to, but that doesn't mean I am counting them out," Ledbetter added.

Coaching relationships will be a huge factor in Ledbetter's decision and he says he has found that at South Carolina.

"I have a real good relationship with Coach Elliot. I talk to him on Facebook and everything and we joke around. The facilities and everything at South Carolina are real nice there," Ledbetter said.

Ledbetter says he is not very familiar with Clemson and Auburn, but he says he hopes to visit the schools by the end of the summer.

"I like the coaches at Clemson and we try to keep in touch. They like my physicality and the way I play," Ledbetter said. "I talk to Coach Chizik at Auburn and he wants me to get down this summer to visit but I'm not sure I will have the time depending on my football schedule. They did win a national championship which is a plus, but I haven't seen the facilities or anything," Ledbetter added.

Ledbetter has visited the Florida Gators in Gainesville and he says he plans to make it down there at least one more time.

"Florida is nice. I've been to the facilities and I've visited with all of the coaching staff. They keep in contact and I like all of them a lot, we are really close it's crazy. They say they want me to visit this summer so I think I am going to stop on my way to visit Miami," Ledbetter said. "Florida has definitely been on me the hardest," Ledbetter added.

Ledbetter says he is very familiar with the Gator football program and added, "Florida is definitely one I am considering."

"My cousin, Brandon Spikes played at Florida but that doesn't mean I'll end up there. He tells me it's a hard working program and if I go there they are going to work me and that is something I need. He isn't pushing me to go anywhere, he just says to go wherever my heart takes me," Ledbetter said.

According to Ledbetter, a few schools that have not yet offered may make his top five.

"I am expecting offers from Miami, Alabama, Penn State, Illinois, and Nebraska soon," Ledbetter said. "I don't have an offer from Miami yet, but they say I am in the top five on their recruiting list and that they should be able to offer me soon. I am going to visit this summer, but if they offer, Miami will be a school I consider," Ledbetter added.

Ledbetter says he plans to announce a top five when his senior season starts and adds, his commitment will come during the season.
