FNL Star Byant Expecting News

There is a delay, but 2013 star running back Greg Bryant of Delray Beach American Heritage is expecting some news when he finally talks to the Florida staff sometime this week. Bryant starred at Friday Night Lights last week and is certainly rising fast among recruiting circles. The Florida staff has apparently taken notice.

He's fast, strong, and runs with a purpose and Greg Bryant showed what he could do in front of a good crowd at The Swamp to watch a football camp. It was enough to get the attention of the Florida coaching staff.

"I thought I did well," Bryant said. "Coach White wanted me to call him on Monday. During the camp he came up to me after I caught a pass and he said to call me Monday, it is important."

The phone meeting hasn't happened yet due to scheduling difficulties and such, but it will. Who knows what will actually come of the "important" call, but needless to say the Gators will continue to recruit Bryant hard.

"They like how I catch the ball out of the backfield," he said. "They say I have speed to get to the corner and I have quick feet." He liked what he saw Friday night to likely return the favor.

"I enjoyed it out there and there was a lot of competition out there," he said. "I know Kelvin Taylor. He was the only friend I have from south Florida that was there. We hung out a little bit. >br>
"I liked the stadium a lot and it was crazy how we were working out in the stadium where all those great players came from. The coaches work hard and they absolutely don't waste time. I really like how they push you."

Running back coach Brian White made an impression on Bryant. White has one Heisman Trophy winning running back on his coaching resume as Ron Dayne's coach at Wisconsin, and Bryant learned a few tricks from White.

"He's a good coach and I like how he knows everything," he said. "I would love him as a coach. He taught me a lot in a short period of time. He taught me how to spin off the ball and switch the ball with my hands. He helped me with all of that."

The day got off to an auspicious start, but a little innocent gear "malfunction" turned into a moment of brevity with Florida's head coach.

"I talked to Coach Muschamp when I first got there," Bryant said. "It was funny because I had a Florida State bag and he said ‘I smell something fishy'. It was really funny and he has a good personality and seems like a cool guy too."

The Gators' offensive coordinator made a splash as well with the versatile back.

"Coach Weis is kind of crazy," Bryant said. "He was flashing his Super Bowl ring and saying how he has all those rings. He is really cool too. I like all of that staff." He doesn't have an offer, but is expecting one to come down soon. The recent offer from Georgia at their camp a week ago put them way up on his list. Right now, the Gators are hanging with the Dawgs.

"I have offers from Georgia, Bowling Green, Minnesota, FAU, and Marshall, so I have five," he said. "Right now I really like Florida and Georgia."
